Because Things are Broken…

“ What has been will be again,

what has been done will be done again;

there is nothing new under the sun.”

These are the words of the wise King Solomon, son of King David.

Life is broken everyday. We hear it on the daily news and aren’t we saddened by one more threat from ISIS, one more war, and one more broken marriage, one more….one more…

Haven’t we settled into the attitude of where will something happen next?

Instead we used to ask why? What’s going on in this world? What can we do to stop this madness?

Last week I watched six Grands at their home. Things were broken there. The oldest son was in a cast with a broken foot.  The dishwasher was broken, and the day I got there, they nursed the last load of clothes in the washer before it quit.

Broken things happen, and last week we did our best with what we had. We all took turns washing dishes after each meal. One morning, we took (what felt like a million quarters), to the laundry in town.

We managed, all week with each child doing his or her own farm chores and schoolwork. We survived through the broken stuff. I don’t remember complaints, and that was what made the survival more meaningful. Complaining drags you down and accomplishes nothing.

Last Friday ISIS hit Paris on my anniversary. As we mourn with France for loss, of more brokenness, we pray for the end of all of this.

I am tired of seeing brokenness, as are you, but I can’t imagine how it is for God to watch it all played out before Him. God reminds us of the hope that has always existed in this world. It’s His hope for the world, and we must  grasp it and hold on for dear life.

We have taken advantage of free will to live, and in this free will, some mock God and turn away. The innocent and weak are hurt or murdered, and evil seems to win, but it is all a lie.

Evil does not win in the end of all things.

It was set right at the cross. One innocent man died for all and evil was overcome. He was broken for us…we who turned to our own way. So if you have not grabbed onto hope, grab the free gift of completeness from God, I encourage you!

He made us complete in Him and we are no longer broken beings. We are made whole.

Continue to have hope!

Rev. 21-5

The earth is the LORD’S and everything in it,

The world, and all who live in it;

For he founded it upon the seas

And established it upon the waters.
Who may ascend the hill of the LORD?

Who may stand in his holy place?

He who has clean hands and a pure heart,

Who does not life up his soul to an idol

Or swear by what is false.

He will receive blessing from the LORD

And vindication from God his Savior.

Such is the generation of those who seek

Him,

Who seek your face, O God of Jacob.

Lift up your heads, O you gates;

Be lifted up, you ancient doors,

That the King of glory may come in.

Who is this King of glory?

The LORD strong and mighty,

The LORD mighty in battle.

Lift up your heads, O you gates;

Lift them up, you ancient doors,

That the King of glory may come in.

Who is he, this King of glory?

The LORD Almighty—

He is the King of glory.

Psalm 24
