In the month of October I will be linking up with other writers on Five Minute Friday for thirty-one days. Each day I will write about one word for five minutes. Here goes…
I like to take photos of certain doors. I like doors that are pretty, huge, or make me curious to turn the door handle and take a peek inside. Here are some doors I have seen:
I have seen some interesting doors in recent years, but this white peeling door was perfect for Halloween. I had an unexpected trip to West Virginia a few weeks ago and my sister and I stopped at Harper’s Ferry. We walked for hours through the old town. Most homes were stone or brick and well maintained. We came upon an old white stone house and found the door was sitting wide open!
We did look inside, and saw white walls, which were also peeling. I couldn’t tell if the rest of the house was lived in, but certainly it needed repair. My mind went crazy thinking of the people of the past that lived here, and wouldn’t I like to see a few ghosts? Well, maybe not.
There are doors we go through in life and never know where they lead until we open that door. We open a door when we graduate high school and make a choice for a college. We open doors when we choose a mate for marriage, a place to live, or a job career. These doors are choices of uncertainty we make in life.
Choices can be good ones, and have terrible endings, but don’t fear. God knows the road you will take, and if you are willing, he will guide you. God has known your path before you were born, and if you let him lead; it will always come home to his door.
