Praise

In the month of October I will be linking up with other writers on Five Minute Friday for thirty-one days. Each day I will write about one word for five minutes. Here goes…

The praises of men are short-lived. A man or woman can be on top; powerful, in the limelight, and drop like a rock. We’ve seen too much of this in media-frenzy of late. I can’t talk of it. None of that brings peace.

In the Psalms, David complains to God many times. His heart goes to the bottom, but he rehearses God’s goodness to the earth, to him. David is our example of the discouraged, who chooses to praise God, and the end result is peace.

Hearing these words not only gives God praise, but also helps David remember what God thinks of him. He is stronger for it, he is blessed, and he is an example to those around him.

Are you discouraged? Take heart, as David did and cry out. God is listening and ready to rescue you.
