In the month of October I will be linking up with other writers on Five Minute Friday for thirty-one days. Each day I will write about one word for five minutes. Here goes…
I was typing at my desk and was interrupted by honking. I looked out my window in time to see about fifteen Canada geese flying low in v-formation…straight towards me.
My instinct is to grab my camera, but I didn’t look away…it was only for a moment.
We have moments in our lives we will never forget. Our first encounter with God, high school graduation, college, the wedding day, your first child that makes you a parent.
I can remember when my oldest child took her first steps, and when she said Mama.
Over many years those moments become memories.
Dr. Seuss said:
“Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment
until it becomes a memory.”
Over a span of a lifetime, moments crowd the brain until all that is left are moments that became memories.
What are your moments turned to memories? Was your life shaped by sorrow and fear? A broken family life? Were there any moments in your life that you felt loved?
If you can’t remember any, try giving love away.
Make it your goal to smile at someone today, and once that becomes a habit, go deeper and make a relationship.
It may surprise you in the moment.
