Hi! Linking up with Five Minute Friday this cold, but sunny day…

Yesterday we spent a comfortable, if not rowdy time with our children and grandchildren for a wonderful thanksgiving feast. Our daughter volunteered to cook the big stuff–turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy. (Her apartment is larger than ours). I love cooking and baking, but I’m finding while this takes the stress off me, it also makes me appreciate that my children want to make things easier for me, and want to carry on some family traditions as well.

Later when we enjoyed dessert, we had the company of our oldest and family. It warmed my heart that my oldest daughter made kolaches. Since we have been away the last two Christmases, I made no cookies at all. This was somewhat disturbing to some of my children, not wanting traditions to disappear.

The time spent together, and watching grandchildren grow is the real value of the holidays for me. I am so grateful that we are close in heart, nearby in location so that we can appreciate them, and be an example of faith to them.

The hugs and love given is the best reward. This is great value and I don’t take it for granted.

    1. Thank you Lesley from FMF. Some things become more clear as the years pass by. Either you fight getting older or enjoy what has been and what your present days are. I’m more comfortable with “me” now than ever.
